Keosauqua Ride

Join Bike Burlington for the annual RAGBRAI training ride tradition that Leroy Bickel started years ago! Taking place of this year's Mississippi River Ride, enjoy a refreshing and scenic 60-mile bike ride from Burlington, IA to Lacey Keosauqua State Park. The route will consistent of flat Iowa countryside, rolling hills, and a few steep climbs to get those legs into shape! Riders will be invited to camp in the park that evening and enjoy a cookout (&/or meal in town at the First Street Grille). Breakfast will be provided by Bickel's on Sunday morning. The Lacey Keosauqua State Park has great showers and a nice lake to swim in. Bickel's will provide a van to haul gear and coolers.

When: Saturday, June 24 - Sunday, June 25, 2023

Time: 8a.m. Saturday from Bickel's / 8a.m. Sunday from Lacey Keosauqua State Park

Route: 

  • Saturday - Ride to West Point, take J 40 across HWY 218 to Bonaparte, Bentonsport (nice museum of Indian artifacts), across old bridge to Vernon, Route 1 to Lacey State Park. 
  • Sunday - Ride North out of Lacey State Park, take HWY 16 East to Hillsboro, Salem (good ice cream stop at Sinclair station!), East to Pickle Church, through Lake Geode State Park, home to Burlington (there's a Casey's in Middletown for refueling if needed).

Overnight Accommodations:

  • Trailer sites available for reservation (minimum of 2 days). One tent allowed at this site, too. Cost is $18 per site
  • Several tent camping sites available (up to 6 people per site with a maximum of 2 tents & 2 vehicles). No advanced reservations; first come, first serve. Cost is $12 per site
