After Ultrasonic Drivetrain Cleaning System
Before Ultrasonic Drivetrain Cleaning System
Clean the grime and dirt off your bicycle components with our Ultrasonic Drivetrain Cleaning System and say goodbye to the use of harsh solvents!
For many years, a drum of petroleum, mineral-based spirits would be used to clean the gunk off a bicycle’s drivetrain. Now, in an environmentally-friendly effort, Bickel’s has invested in sonic tanks that kick those solvent drums right down the road.
A rather simple yet techy idea, chains, cassettes & derailleurs are placed into a basket within a sonic tank that holds water & light detergent. Heat is added (at specified temps) and ultrasonic vibrations are produced for cleaning. After a period of time, the parts are removed and then submerged into a second tank of heated oil, where once again, ultrasonic vibrations are used for lubing. After another period of time, parts are removed to dry.
“It’s a win-win,” says Chris Bonar, Bickel’s 25-year veteran mechanic, “Not only are we eliminating the need for a harsh, petroleum-based product, but the sonic cleaner does an even better job of getting into the nooks & crannies of bicycle components, such as the pins & rollers. Plus, the solvent is really tough on your hands!”
While always happy to help, don’t count on Chris offering his services as a hand model quite yet!
