About Snake Alley Criterium
Downtown Partners and Bike Burlington invite you to start off your summer with the 37th Annual Snake Alley Criterium on Memorial Day Weekend! Considered “one of the most physically challenging races in the Midwest,” by the Iowa Bicycle Racing Association, spend your day in the middle of the action, cheering on cyclists as they make their way up the grueling 12.5% grade of Snake Alley.
The excitement begins on the afternoon of Friday, May 24th with the Burlington Road Race. The event covers 104-miles from the Port of Burlington to Grandview, IA and back, ending on Burlington's Main Street for a sprint to the finish line. Afterwards, join in the fun with live music and refreshments during Friday Fest at the Memorial Auditorium. Criterium Day (Saturday May 25th) begins with delicious food at the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at the Port. The Criterium races start downtown at 8:30a.m. with the final Category 1/2 Pro Race at 3:40 pm. Hundreds of athletes from around the world will be competing for thousands of dollars in prizes. The popular Kids Races and Cobble Climb take place at noon.
