Bike Patrol Never Looked So Good!

Ron's New Trek Emonda Road Bike!
Ron has been a long-time, loyal customer of Bickel's and even though he has since moved out of the area, we still have the pleasure of seeing him many times throughout the year.  Now retired, as an avid cyclist, he recently treated himself to a new Project 1 Emonda SLR road bike! While you will find him biking the road, he also volunteers much of his time for the Cedar Falls / Waterloo Bike Patrol, keeping their 100+ miles of beautiful bike paths & trails safe & enjoyable for all. After taking his new bike home, here's what he had to share with us:

"I rode the Emonda 41 miles this morning. I like it a lot. The fit was much better than I expected. It is very comfortable.  I expected it would take me several rides to get used to the seat. No problem. Moving between the aero bars and handle bars I was always comfortable. I was also surprised how little I felt the bumps in the road. The ride is much smoother than my Madone. I did not expect it to be this smooth. I am glad I got the Emonda and not the Domane.

It is a very fast bike. I was trying to keep my speed down after my crash Tuesday. I did better on the sharp curves. On the straight roads it was hard to keep it under 20 MPH. It wants to go. I like it.

The Mavic wheels add to the bike. The braking is very good. It will definitely stop. Maybe too fast if you get on them. The Exalith pads work.

It was also nice to ride a bike that everything works. My old Madone needs work worse than I realized. I think it will spend most of the time hanging on the wall of fame in the garage. I still like to look at it.  I enjoyed riding it for 6 years. It was a special bike.

Thank you (Tyler) and Melinda for your time and patience over the years helping me figure out what I wanted in bicycles. Now that I am retired and living in Cedar Falls I can go out every day and ride 30 to 40 miles. It keeps me busy and it is something that I enjoy. Also let everyone at Trek know I am very happy with my new Emonda. Also tell them that 68 year old guys can do fine on an Emonda."
